King Cyrus showed great forbearance and respect towards the religions, beliefs and cultural traditions of other races. Upon conquering any nation he allowed them to keep their customs religion and language. He paid his slaves for work done and allowed women to have social and legal freedom, and had great respect for them. In fact many were high ranked commanders in his army and navy. He declared the first charter of human rights. (Cyrus Cylinder) The replicate of this cylinder is now in the united nation as the world’s oldest declaration of human rights.
